My daughter loves these books. They are really good: fun, engaging and you learn a little along the way.As we search for Tom, Digby the cat and hid grandmother we also learn about history from the pictures. Think Where’s Wally with nuggets of historical life.Here Tom travels to Ming Dynasty China. I like the fact this is somewhere and a period we are less likely to have had other books about: ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans are great but it’s easier to find other children’s books about them, finding books that engage children in all the other astonishing past cultures around the world can be a bit trickier.Give this - or others in the series- a try if you have a child between about 5 or 6 and 9 or 10.
